54 Scholarships Provided to 42 Districts
STATE COLLEGE, PA, JUNE 30, 2008 -- Schoolwires, Inc., a leading national provider of strategic online communication, community management and productivity solutions, announced that 54 scholarships had been granted to 42 school districts through its Scholarship program.
The Schoolwires Scholarship program launched in late 2007 to give back scholarship dollars to districts and schools that have partnered with the company to implement its website and community management, digital file sharing and service request management solutions.
"We set out to provide a program that returned much-need scholarship funds to our customers. We believe our solutions are all about success -- and success means making sure there"s available scholarship funding for students who need it," states Ed Marflak, Schoolwires CEO.
According to Schoolwires, Scholarships for the first half of 2008 totaled $27,000. The company plans to continue the program in some form based on initial success.
Marflak notes, "We"re excited that the program got so much traction." He points in particular to the impact the program is having on students" lives.
Lucio Marquez, a senior at Frontier High School, part of Kern High School District (CA), recently wrote to Schoolwires, stating, "I am writing this letter to thank you for... giving me the scholarship that will be a great help with my college education. This scholarship really opened my eyes and made me realize that education will help me in the future."
Marquez will apply his scholarship to classes at Cerritos Community College. With the extra support of the Schoolwires program, Marquez feels that "I will go to school and be successful with all the effort and dedication needed to achieve what I am seeking -- an excellent future."
Radnor Township School District (PA) will apply its scholarship grant to its "MAR," which stands for Microsoft Authorized Refurbishers Group. Started by high school junior Brian Garber, MAR relies on donations to acquire parts and supplies to refurbish computers, which are then given to families in need in the community.
Schoolwires CEO Marflak expresses excitement about the program -- and expects to use it to increase scholarship dollars in the future.
"Given our launch at NECC of the CentricityTM Strategic Solution for Connecting K-12 Communities, as well as the momentum our SynergyTM File Sharing Solution and AssistTM Service Request Management Solution, we are discussing how we might continue the program," he concludes.
