06.09.09 Rochester City School District Selects Schoolwires Centricity Solution

Communications Platform Will Provide More Information and Access for Community

State College, Pennsylvania, 9th June 2009 -- Schoolwires, Inc., one of the nation"s leading providers of strategic website and community management solutions for building stronger school communities, more effective schools and greater student success, announced today that the Rochester City School District has licensed the company"s Centricity solution.

The district, located in Upstate New York and serving 32,000 students, licensed Centricity with the goal of creating an interactive and engaging website that will make it easier for community members to find the information and resources they need, said Tom Petronio, chief communications officer, Rochester City School District. The district"s current website was created in-house and is cumbersome to navigate and difficult for the district to maintain.

"We want to elevate our website to make it more of a communications platform, rather than just a static site for the display of information," said Petronio. "We believe the Centricity solution will help us present a clearer and more complete picture of the district so that parents of existing students can become more involved, and so that families considering our district can find all the information they need to make an informed decision."

Centricity is the first and only strategic solution for connecting K-12 communities -- an all-in-one, user-centric solution that puts all district and school constituents on the same page. Unlike any other solution, Centricity enables collaboration, works hand-in-hand with digital file sharing, improves communications, enhances operational efficiency, and encourages broad adoption and participation by administrators, teachers, families and students. It is a hosted, on-demand solution offering very high levels of security, performance and reliability.

One of the key benefits of Centricity for the Rochester district is the capability for authorized end users to easily create and update content. This will allow individual teachers, for example, to create their own web pages where they can post information on assignments, tests, and other important news about their classroom, and provide an avenue for parents to communicate with them. Currently, all content from the 60 schools for the website must be funneled through the communications office. The volume of work makes it difficult for the office to maintain and update content on the website.

The district chose the Schoolwires solution after a rigorous vendor selection process, said Petronio. "Of all the vendors, we felt that Schoolwires gave us the best value in terms of the quality of their product and service, and the cost. It was by far the most dynamic and school-friendly solution."

"The Centricity solution will help the Rochester City School District streamline their communications process and increase and enhance their communication with their large constituent base," said Edward S. Marflak, founder and CEO of Schoolwires.  "We welcome this prestigious district to the Schoolwires family and look forward to helping them meet their goal of making information and resources readily available to the community."
