State College, Pennsylvania, Jan. 12, 2012 — William Fowler, a leader in building effective, innovative and scalable technology-based programs for education, has joined the Board of Directors for Schoolwires, it was announced today.
State College, Pennsylvania, Jan. 10, 2012 – Three teachers from State College Area High School were recognized last night for their contributions to an innovative global learning program that was developed by Schoolwires. The teachers were early adopters of the Schoolwires Greenleaf International Classroom Exchange Program that pairs State College students with peers in China in a virtual environment.
Higley Unified School District values the role of technology in building stronger connections with its constituents and supporting student success. However, managing a secure electronic environment poses some challenges. The district stores all users in its active directory, supported by a strict password security policy for logging in to the district’s system. The district’s tech-savvy teachers and other users also access numerous other online sites. But keeping track of the multitude of passwords was difficult.
Schoolwires is launching Nimbus, a safe social learning environment that is designed to foster student engagement so that districts can extend participatory learning in and beyond the traditional classroom in support of student success and 21st century learning skills.
