South Kitsap Builds Strong Relationship with Community Using Schoolwires Platform.

South Kitsap School District in Washington State has a mission to “Nurture Growth, Inspire Achievement and Build Community.” Student success and core community values are the heart and soul of their district. They aspire to highlight their district’s achievements by telling each story from their schools that come together to tell the entire story about their district.

Their Schoolwires online solution is more than just an outlet to showcase their stories, but is giving them a unique strategic platform that allows them the transparency they need to seamlessly communicate and collaborate with their internal and external communities, unlike homegrown, piecemeal websites and web content tools.

Superintendent Dave La Rose affirms the value of their Schoolwires investment, “Schoolwires is valuable to our district because it provides us with a way to communicate and collaborate with our district constituents on many levels, with the end result of student success.”

South Kitsap School District

The most recent project that South Kitsap has been working on is called “SK Road Trip,” a video series that they post on their site, highlighting the events and stories at each school, allowing them to show their commitment to their district and community. They strive to engage their entire community; the videos being only a part of their overall initiative to make sure all community members are informed, engaged, and energized.

La Rose explained that the video series that South Kitsap is producing is part of their strategic campaign, showcasing the daily event and efforts of each school with their devoted staff and students to demonstrate the dedication they have to their community. “A positive public image is important in today’s difficult economic times in order to gain and continue to get public support for your district’s programs and initiatives,” according to La Rose.

South Kitsap is building a stronger community through their district’s web presence by illustrating the work they are doing toward their vision, La Rose comments, “We are intentional in sharing our pride and passion for reaching children and ensuring success for all students. Schoolwires provides the ideal venue for presenting more than just a snapshot of what we are doing, but presenting the whole story of our school, staff and community success, allowing our community the ability to contribute ideas about other ways we can demonstrate our success.”

South Kitsap and Schoolwires share the same ultimate goal of creating strong community relationships that result in more involved stakeholders and greater student achievement. La Rose points out that Schoolwires is a large part of accomplishing their stated mission, “Community engagement doesn’t just happen; an active partnership with Schoolwires helps us to promote and gain strong schoolfamily relationships. Our strategic online platform is an invaluable investment that helps us provide our community with all of the resources they need.”
