State College, Pennsylvania, August 10, 2012 – Schoolwires’ employees donated funds to purchase backpacks and essential school supplies to help out local families in Centre County as they prepare to send their children back to school.
Schoolwires delivered the backpacks and supplies to the Salvation Army, which will distribute them tomorrow through its Back-To-School Program in August. The Schoolwires’ program, called SmartPack, was initiated and funded by employees. This is the second year that Schoolwires’ employees have supported a campaign to purchase school supplies for children in the community.
"The support of Schoolwires helps us put backpacks and school supplies into the hands of families that need financial relief while supporting the educational development of children," said Captain Charles Niedermyer of the Salvation Army of State College.
“Schoolwires is dedicated to helping students succeed. Our employees took the initiative to make sure local students have basic materials, like pens, calculators and backpacks, to get the school year off to a good start,” said Christiane Crawford, Chief Executive Officer and President, Schoolwires. “I am proud of our employees and their efforts to support our local community.”
