State College, Pennsylvania, March 22, 2012The Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS) has implemented Schoolwires Centricity2 to help improve communications and resource sharing with its members and to enhance its image as a champion of high academic standards for urban schools.

“For our members and the general public, our website is often their first impression of the Council,” said Tonya Harris, Communications Manager, Council of the Great City Schools. “Using Centricity2, we’ve created a website that is visually appealing, information driven and user friendly. The website conveys a positive image of the Council and reflects our mission to improve the education of urban students. We are very pleased with the product and its ease of use.”

The Centricity2 content management system is designed to bring together all essential technologies, tools and information in one place to help the Council and K-12 districts connect more effectively with their communities.

Centricity2 enables the Council to present more information to its members and make it readily accessible. The improved homepage includes rotating images with highlighted text areas, a calendar of events and a ‘Quick Links’ section that provides information such as member school districts, press releases and urban school statistics. The website also features a new section called ‘Academics’ that has information on how to implement Common Core State Standards and other resources. In addition, the website has engaging multimedia artifacts like videos and photo galleries.

Available publications are organized by topic and accessed through drop down menus to help members find the resources they need. Members also can engage more effectively with the Council through online surveys generated through Centricity2.

“Centricity2 is enabling Council members to stay connected and participate more in the efforts of the CGCS to help urban schools deliver quality education to all students,” said Christiane Crawford, President and Chief Executive Officer, Schoolwires. “Schoolwires is pleased to play a supporting role in helping the Council create a strong community in support of student success.”
